She would know – besides for her role on the CW’s Supergirl, she just released a new single and is slated to appear in “A Wrinkle in Time.”
If you watch the CW’s Supergirl, you are probably familiar with Jordan Mazarati as the young Alex Danvers. If you heard her latest single, “Pieces,” you think of her as a singer-songwriter. However, if you ask Jordan to describe herself, she would say “I’m pretty much just a normal teenager.”
A normal teenager who gets to spend a good portion of her time on set and in the recording studio, that is. You can tell she absolutely adores how she gets to spend her days: preoccupied with her greatest passions – acting and singing.
We caught up with her after she wrapped up filming the upcoming movie, “A Wrinkle in Time,” where she acts among a notable cast including Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Oprah Winfrey. She had a lot to share, including the sacrifices necessary to pursue one’s dreams; for example, between school, acting and music, she barely has time for anything else. But it is of no matter to her, because she truly believes that “if you work hard and have an undying passion for your craft, you’ll be successful!”
1. What is your background?
I spent a lot of my life in New York City surrounded by music – my apartment was right across the street from Carnegie hall! I love both music and acting because they provide a platform to tell stories in a universal way.
My foray into acting began with stage productions and then a title role in the musical Annie.
2. What has been your favorite role so far?
My favorite role would have to be Alex in Supergirl. She is just such a strong, intellectual girl. I think she is a wonderful role model for girls everywhere.
3. What’s the set of Supergirl like?
We shoot in different locations for every episode. For example, in one episode we shot in Malibu, and in another we shot at Warner Bros. Either way, it’s a new fun experience each time.
4. If Supergirl came to our world, what’s the first thing she would remedy?
Hunger and homelessness.
5. What would you tell a young teen looking to get started acting or singing?
I wholeheartedly believe if you follow your heart, work extremely hard and don’t let rejection get in the way of what you want to do, you’ll achieve anything you set out to do.
6. What does a day in your life look like?
Assuming that I am not filming that day, I wake up, go to school, then come home and write music. It’s not anything extravagant. I’m pretty much just a normal teenager.

7. How do you balance schoolwork with all your creative interests?
A lot of time management. Between school, music and acting, I don’t really have time for anything else, but I’m fine with that.
8. What are you some things you’re excited about right now?
I just released my first EP (The single, “Pieces”) and I’m so excited for everyone to hear it. {You can download it on Spotify here!}

9. What is your vision for the future?
Doing what I love. If I can make a decent living off of my passion, I will be content.
10. What is one cause you are passionate about?
Save the Children. I want to work with them to spread awareness about the Syrian crisis and help the children of Syria. So many innocent children are getting killed every day. It is a horrifying problem that isn’t getting the coverage it deserves.
